Today I had one of the most silly lunches I ever had and felt six years old again with my friend little Miss Pink Girl. Together with her mom we paid a visit to the Hello Kitty Cafe in Hong Kong to try out some of their signature dishes all in the shape of Hello Kitty.
The themed restaurant is Hello Kitty glamour Hong Kong style with images of the famous Sanrio cat adorning everything from plates to chairs to chopsticks. Every little (and big) girl who walks into this full serviced restaurant is transported into Hello Kitty heaven delighting in all things in the shape of their favourite comic cat.
We ordered the famous Hello Kitty BBQ pork buns, shrimp dumplings, fried pork cakes with sesame seeds and the biggest Hello Kitty dumpling I ever saw. Miss Pink Girl had a blast poking her chopstick (she’s still in training mode) into this ginormous bun releasing steam and revealing three smaller dumplings inside.
We also ordered a side of noodles, steamed fish with tofu and stir fried kale, which was surprisingly tasty. All in all, we gave the Hello Kitty Cafe two thumbs up. It certainly is a very original place to live out your Hello Kitty fantasies and a fun place to take your kids while on holiday in Hong Kong.
Next to the Hello Kitty restaurant is a souvenir shop selling everything from Hello Kitty themed sweets to a bottle of bordeaux (Hello Kitty label included!). With the receipt from the lunch we also got a free Hello Kitty tumbler that one of the Zora The Explorer followers will soon get in the mail with our next competition (coming soon…). Today I gave you all the chance to win a box of Hello Kitty candy by sharing screenshots on your Twitter account. Our winner today is @Jaxiekim who shared the most screenshots on her Twitter wall and will soon be munching on Hello Kitty treats. She is quite the fan with a collection of over 300 Hello Kitty collectables and now has one more to add.
There are three different Hello Kitty cafes in Hong Kong, however, the one we visited today is the only full serviced restaurant and is located on the Kowloon side.
