You will not believe the views we had today from the ICC Hong Kong’s tallest building, also known as International Commerce Centre. From the 100th floor of the Sky100 observation deck, we saw a 360 degree vista of this magnificent city we live in. Although the day was a bit hazy, we still got to see some of the city’s tallest skyscrapers located on Hong Kong Island from the Kowloon side.
The ICC building is marketed as 118 stories, however in reality, it is a 108 stories. Due to tetraphobia, the fear of the number 4 (in Chinese, it 4 sounds like the word “death”), the fourth floor, 14th floor, 24th floor and so on, are not numbered.
On your next visit to Hong Kong, it is worth the effort to check out the ICC building. Rising 484m (1,588 ft) above sea level, it is the world’s ninth tallest building by height and the fourth tallest by number of floors. Be sure to choose a sunny day or cloud free day and you won’t be disappointed. Plan about an hour to visit all the exhibits, browse through the gift shop and take as many photos as you can.
Thank you all for popping into our broadcast today and for inviting your Periscope family and friends. I hope you had as much fun as I did and I will see you next time!
P.S. I met two women at the bottom of the elevator on my way out. They said they had a fear of heights and were waiting for their partners. Yes, the views are spectacular, but if you get vertigo, you might want to skip this one.
